I've been studying.........
by bchapp ini have been studying with the jw's for several years.
they have been pressuring me to become one of them, but something seems to be holding me back, instinct maybe?
i agree a lot of their teaching are good, and i'm sure are the truth but here are a few of the things that bother me: jw's use the scripture hebrews 10:25 not forsaking the gathering of yourselves together...... to justify their meetings.

You've got several large news outlets to publish your release, which is fantastic..., so the release is now 'legit' (as opposed to the countless others that are ignored)... IMO, you can leverage this by printing out those releases from the various news websites, then fax them along with the original release to the large newspapers who haven't printed it....it should cause a reaction, because other outlets like to get on board a rolling train.

Is the GB considered the 12 Apostles?
by Double Edge inexcuse my ignorance, but as some of you know i've never been a jw.
my question is about the governing board (gb...right?
): since jw's believe that they are the 'church' that jesus set up with his 12 apostles, do they consider the gb the continuation of those apostles?

Bchapp:
It's been almost a week since you started this thread. I was just curious, are you still taking the bible study classes? Has anything changed since you started posting?

Never heard of them. I typed in "christian millenial fellowship" in the Yahoo search engine, there are several links you can check out...one of them had an address in Ojai, California.

Priest resigns after church attacks him
by bboyneko in"jesus was neither a mediator nor a saviour, neither super-human nor divine; we need to leave him to his place in history and move on .
the world has seen religions come and go; to my mind, no religion is guaranteed permanence, only the searching human spirit, mind and heart are perennial.

part of the article read:
Furlong, 54, who was ordained in the Anglican Church of Ireland in the early 1970s, has said he has held his unorthodox beliefs for more than 30 years but had not shared them previously with his parishioners.
What a phoney....for 30 years he taught and lived something he didn't believe in....I guess it was easier than getting a REAL job. -

Thank God for You Know
by joelbear inhe is here to remind us of how easily we could be led into putting off our lives and waiting and waiting and waiting for the end, instead of living a good happy satisfying life now.. each of us could make a list of the regrets we have because of putting things off until after the end.. so, thankfully we have you know here to remind us that we are living the real life now.. joel

You said it brother.... What a fine example of how not to be, unless you want to miss out on living. It must be a real drain to be constantly YOKED to fear and dread.

I voted today ...
by BobsGirl ini have been walking around with a sticker on my chest that announces to the world that i acted on my civic responsibility and voted today.
i have to admit that i am feeling a bit vulnerable and fighting the impulse to rip it off.
there were two issues on the ballot however that i felt it important to support.

Gore was never in the lead. But I do agree last election showed how important it is to vote.
Interesting how several news organizations did a final recount of ALL the ballots in Florida and the outcome was the same... even Gore admits that he lost Florida by the smallest of margins. What's more interesting is how the main stream press never really picked up on it.
